Chemoexfoliation Consultation and Treatment in Columbus
Chemoexfoliation are In-office treatments to include chemicals in a non-invasive way to immediately resurface and improve the health of the skin. Also known as a Chemical Peel, Chemoexfoliation is a therapy to reduce or improve wrinkles, blemishes, pigment spots, and sun-damaged areas of the skin.
Chemoexfoliation refers to a group of treatments where any of the following chemicals are applied to the skin:
• Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA)
• Salicylic Acid
• Glycolic Acid
• Phenol
• Phytic Acid
Chemical peels work by removing the outermost layers of dead skin. The more we age, the rate of dead cells falling off the skin surface slows down. This results in a dull, uneven complexion. Sun damaged cells are often also in the superficial part of the skin, hence eminently treatable with peels.

Procedure
The treatment solution is applied on cleansed skin. This is left on according to the treatment protocol, till the desired end-point is achieved. For most peels, this is in the region of 3-5 minutes. When done for rejuvenation, modern peels often have little downtime. Flaking may be seen in the days following the peel, but this is minimized by generous moisturizing. When used to treat pigmentation, darkening of the pigmented areas is the norm. When the surface skin falls off, so does the excess darkness.
