Toenail Fungus

Tinea Versicolor, also known as Pityriasis Versicolor, is an infection of the skin in the form of a fungus. This fungus is caused by a yeast that is naturally found on the skin, making this infection non-contagious. Tinea Versicolor appears in the form of a rash on the surface of the skin.

It’s important to treat your nail fungus as it will not go away on its own. Without treatment, the fungus can get worse, spread to other nails, or spread to other parts of your body.

There are many ways to treat you nail fungus such as:

    • Non-prescription creams, gels, and polishes
    • Prescription creams and polishes
    • Prescription drugs
    • Nail removal
    • Laser treatment

Make sure to be cautious with your infected toenail during its grow out stage of one year to 18 months. Be sure to keep your feet clean and dry, wear shoes and socks that are breathable, wear shower shoes in public bathrooms, keep your nails short, and consult with your doctor if you think your fungus is coming back.
