The Secrets to Anti-Aging | Look Like the Younger You!

Every woman wishes that she could turn back the clock (even if just a little). That’s no secret. Well, beauty products and procedures aside, the best advice that we could give you is pretty simple.

Stay Out of the Sun: Yes, we know you’ve heard this from us many times before. But, we promise, it works! Not 100% out of the sun 100% of the time (everything in moderation!), but whenever you are outside, make sure you’re covered up and protected. Trust us, your skin will thank you for it!

Get Some Sleep: When you’re stressed out or tired, you instantly can look 10 years older. Relaxed and well rested though might just have the opposite effect! Take care of yourself, get your sleep, and you will look like a whole new person.

These two little tips may seem obvious, but in this case, the most simple and obvious solution may be the key to looking younger and even feeling better. People spend so much time worrying and thinking about how to prevent aging but just taking good care of yourself is the first and most important step.

How to Treat Your Skin Better

When it comes to skincare, too much of a good thing can definitely be bad. Many times, we hear of a new beauty routine and before we know it, we’re doing it every day instead of the recommended once a week. Or maybe it’s a product that we’re supposed to be using only at night but we love it so much we end up using it twice a day.

Well, we’re here to tell you about those habits that may be damaging your skin without you even realizing it.

Too Much Exfoliation:

Doing too many aggressive exfoliation treatments in the hopes of looking younger and renewing your skin can definitely do more harm than good. It can cause dryness, inflammation, strip away your healthy oils and bacteria, among many other things.

Skipping Moisturizer to Prevent Breakouts:

Many people skip moisturizer because they naturally have oily skin and are worried that any extra moisture will cause a breakout. If skin gets too dry though, acne can get worse. Instead of skipping this step of your skincare routine, opt for a light, oil-free moisturizer (we have plenty in our office!)

Using a Washcloth or Loofah to Wash Your Face:

Washcloths and loofahs are filled with bacteria. Using them on your face is a surefire way to cause more skin problems than you started with.

Product Overload:

There are so many fun skincare products out there, and we wish we could just try them all. Well, less is more in this case. You may think your solving a different problem with each new product, but in reality, the overload will most likely make your problems worse. When it comes to choosing the right products for your beauty routine, just stick to the basics. If you need it, we can help you pick out some great ones.

Well, now you know some of the many misconceptions about skincare. Regardless of how badly you may have been sabotaging your skin, don’t worry. It’s never too late for a fresh start and to begin forming some new healthy habits. We hoped this blog helped you get started and if you have any questions, feel free to call our office or set up an appointment.
